Crying CrownMade of aluminum and paint, its dimentions are 170 x 50 x h: 240 cmThis sculpture is one of the works focused on Akay’s autobiographical past, displaying a family relic that is surrealistically revived in a metal sculpture in the memory of her grandmother.
About
Born 1963, graduated from Bosphorus University.
She lives and works in Göcek, Dalaman, Türkiye.Akay has an interdisciplinary practice including sculpture, photography and installations. She experiments with “sculpture in the expanded field” by which she facilitates performances / social gatherings around or about an installation / place.In 2019 she created “Dilara Akay Sculpture Garden”; a public space for her work inviting people from Göcek and beyond. Akay is an ambassador of WWF-Türkiye.
